These little pads fit perfectly in my soft-sided pet carrier. They work perfectly for quick trips to the vet or other short road trips. When I take multi-day road trips, I prefer a disposable pad so I don't have to store dirty washables in the car, but these washables are preferable to the disposable plastic overall and I use them whenever possible. They are thin, i.e., not padded and bulky. They are absorbent and I have found them to wash just fine.

These are far superior to disposable pads we've used in the past. We've yet to have leaks with these, and they have proven to be incredibly absorbent. Pee odor is much better controlled with these as well. Cleaning is a snap -- run them through the washing machine with warm water, hang them up to dry, and they're ready to go. They've held up well over the past several months. Reusable, washable, and better-performing than disposables. What's not to love?

*This is going to be very long, due to my thorough testing of various brands, but the information learned is worth it if you want to save money/save environment/save yourself a ton of trouble*Two factors that lead to my experiments with various brands of pee pads:1.I’m poor, and I wanted to find the most economical/“bang for my buck” brand and2. I work long hours and have two VERY large dogs that normally get taken out to potty, but are also trained to go on pee pads if nobody is home and they have to go.Let me tell you- these guys produce as much urine per pee as a large beer-drinking adult male lol. Needless to say, I’ve tried many different brands to see if they’re up to the task, and I’ve had to clean up SO many overflows, even if I do 2 or 3 layers of disposable pee pads.So far, the Simple Solution “All Day” variety (NOT the regular kind) have been the absolute best at absorbing the largest quantity of urine without leaking for their size.I’ve also done my own tests to measure the max limit of cups of water each brand can absorb, and the “All Day” pads by Simple Solution far out-absorb their competitors. I could get a full 8 cups before it started overflowing or leaking.The next best brand was Four Paws “Wee Wee Pads”, but their normal pads and their “extra absorbent” pads had VERY little difference in the actual quantity of water absorbed. 2.5-3 cups in regular vs 3.5 in the extra absorbent. Psh. But they did perform better and prevent more leaks than a bunch of other lower end pads I tried.After a few months of buying pee pads and seeing how many trash bags I filled up each week, tossing them out each day, I felt so guilty for the constant amount of plastic waste that it was producing, and I also got tired of paying for another box of pads each week! So I forayed into the world of washable pee pads. There are an endless number of brands and some are labeled for people (bedwetting children or the elderly, etc) and some labeled for pets, but as far as how they function and their absorbency, THERES NO DIFFERENCE except the ones for pets may have a cute bone pattern. (Some claim they have an attractant, but my dogs peed on whatever I put in the area they were used to having pee pads in, so I can’t verify).I tried multiple brands of reusable pads, with a wide variety of quality and absorbency (some were just complete trash) but the absolute BEST one that I found was the IMPROVIA reusable underpad. Unlike others I tried, it has special channels that wick the wetness to the outer edges, where the fabric ALLOWS THE WATER PORTION TO EVAPORATE. WTF!? I was skeptical as always, but after putting it out during the day, when I came home it almost felt dry! Not soaked and heavy like the other brands I had tried. Not only that, but it didn’t stink of pee in the house, either! It blew my mind!Now of course, it has its limits, but so far I’ve even had the dogs use it for a few days in a row before washing it, and it’s blown me away with its absorbent capabilities and the evaporation function.And after washing in the machine, it air dries in an hour (as opposed to other brands, that come out heavy and soaked and take days to air dry).I’m not a bot, nor do I get paid for any of this info (but once again, I’m poor, so hey, Improvia, if you want to send a little money my way for raving about you to every pet owner I run into, that would be great! Lol).But really, I’m just a pet owner who wants to pass on some helpful info, and also encourage others to pick something more environmentally friendly than disposable pee pads. You don’t have to be a hippie to want to help the planet that you live on- every little thing you do counts!So I say, give the reusable kind a try. If you hate them, no big deal- it’s Amazon- just return them! But you might find that they’re actually better than the disposables, and will save you so much money! And if that happens, all I say is “pass the message along”! I bought these pads for potty training to replace store bought disposable ones. My large-breed puppy drinks a lot of water so I bought size Large. In hindsight, since they do need washing to re-use, I’d recommend trying a smaller size first, plus buying at least 3-4 as you will rotate them out.The bone pattern is subtle and pleasant. It’s nice to have two color options. The pad is well made, with double sewn edges and quilt pattern.My puppy quickly learned to pee on the pad, so much so that she would be outside playing for a while and instead of peeing outside, waited until she got to the pad! Not necessarily my goal. She’s since done her business while playing outside. Phew.Initially I thought I had leakage yet with passing time and I had more pad experience, realize my puppy was peeing (large amounts) too close to the edge. My solution was placing cardboard or newspaper under the most preferred edge peeing area. Also, this large pad was getting multiple pees before being changed out. So basically, this was the user learning curve and not the pad.As a total aside, random thought…I live in an area where natural disasters include hurricanes. The pads would be great for shelter-in-place emergency use. Let’s hope none of us encounter that need!I’m happy this sustainable potty training pad exists and that I could support this small business.

(I thought I already reviewed this but it just popped up asking me to write a review...) Ok so this is a must have! My puppies would play with the paper pee pads then one day they started to shred & EAT them. During my research of potty training solutions, I came across these washable pads. At first I thought “eww gross”, but decided to give them a try and I quickly fell in love!! These are the best EVER and a HUGE life saver (for the puppies- they can’t eat them so it saves them from ingesting & causing themselves harm...and for me- it saves me from cleaning up big messes, saves me from worrying whether they’ll have an internal blockage & so, it also saves my wallet from paying for X-rays, vet bills or surgery. (I don’t have to keep buying the paper ones- people say that saves $$ BUT I’m not sure how much because I am washing these mats everyday so then I’m using detergent and water 🤷🏻‍♀️). Anyway, I have 2 puppies and I bought the 30x36 4pk. I was expecting a challenging transition but surprisingly, both puppies gravitated right to the pads. Hallelujah! 🙌🏼 👏🏼 Even if the mats got turned over or crumpled- they would still go potty on them. Which was fine by me hahaha as long as it wasn’t on my floors anymore! I bought these mats in the beginning of March (so I’ve only had them for a little over a month) and in the beginning, at some point in the day, my puppies would lay on them and even play with them... but they’re puppies so I was okay with that because I was just relieved that they weren’t able to shred & eat them. Still to this day they are in 1 piece and I’ve washed them a gazillion times, everyday, since the beginning of March. The only thing I had to do was cut the care tag off because that they did want to chew up. At first I was washing the mats in cold water with little detergent (sometimes even a splash of vinegar) and I was hanging them to dry...Lately (in the last 2 weeks) after washing them, I’ve been throwing them in the dryer.... and still no problems with them falling apart or having curled edges. I’ve never had any leaks under the mat but my puppies are little (since using them they’ve grown from 2 & 3lbs to now 5 & 8lbs), so not sure what would happen with a bigger dog. Depending on the floor you put them on they will slide but that’s not a big deal for me. I have them on hardwood floors and I’ve put them on tile. My little pups don’t play with them anymore so they’ll only move a little if they are running over them while they play. *If it bothers you, you could always get a rubbery gripper mat (like for shelves or under rugs). My little ones would definitely have found it and ate it so I never put anything under it. I love love love them and even put one in the back of my suv (trunk) in case they need to go when we are on the road 😊 These are the best and I’m so happy I bought them!
